"A whole lot of advertisers plan to air ads across media including news channels, print media and online the day Sachin makes his 100th 100," says Navin Khemka, senior VP at media buying firm Zenith Optimedia, whose client list includes Reckitt Benckiser. "This includes both brands associated with him and those who are not."
Brands that the master batsman endorses lead the drive, of course. While beverage maker Coca-Cola is releasing 6.5 million special 'Sachin' cans, insurance services provider Aviva will fly lucky contest winners to London to meet Sachin.
Top retailer Future Group, photographic and digital imaging firm Canon and consumer electronics firmToshiba too are ready to leverage on Sachin's unprecedented feat (see the list), while others like sportswear and footwear makerAdidas are still finalising their strategies.
Brands not associated with Sachin too have pre-booked ads in print media and TV channels in anticipation of the historic event.
Cricket fans are in a frenzy at the prospect of the 38-year-old batsman scoring his 100th international century in the first test at Lord's, where team India is battling to save the match. The team will play four test matches, five one-day internationals and one T20 match in England.
Sachin has scored 99 international hundreds, while the second best-Australia's Ricky Ponting-is way behind with 69 centuries.
ESPN Star Sports, official broadcaster of the series, expects to rake in 180-200 crore from the series, largely riding on expectations of Sachin's hundredth century.
BIG PLANS
Canon India Senior VP Alok Bharadwaj said that the camera maker's plans to celebrate the event will be centered on its photo community of two lakh members, retail partners and dealers. "For example, we will capture '100 good moments with Sachin' with members of our photo community," he said.
Future Group President (Food and FMCG) Devendra Chawla said the retailer, which markets personal care products like toothpastes and handwashes under the Sach brand, is working on a limited edition non-standard pack for one of the existing categories to be launched in a few weeks' time.

Matt Prior batted India out of the game
About
A cricket relationship that was one-way traffic, in England's favour, for most of the 20th century has now turned towards India. Though lacking the edge of their rivalries with Australia and Pakistan, these two countries share emotional and historic ties that predate the 79 years they've been playing Tests and the recent rise of both teams has seen them more evenly matched than ever before. Since 2007 they've played for the Pataudi Trophy - named for Nawab Iftikhar Ali Khan, who played for both teams - which India have won twice on the trot and now travel to England to defend.

England took three crucial wickets in the first session to make big progress towards their aim of nine wickets on the final day, for a 1-0 lead. You could argue with Andrew Strauss's field placements - two slips to start off with, and an almost permanent deep point in place - but his bowling changes worked like a charm. About 20 minutes before lunch, England managed a wicket in the first over of a new spell for the fifth time in this Test, ending a 14-over partnership between VVS Laxman and Gautam Gambhir.
It was James Anderson who sent back a resolute and fighting Laxman to add to his earlier dismissal of Rahul Dravid. In the next over, Graeme Swann followed up the good work with the wicket of Gambhir, who showed courage to bat out 56 balls with a painful elbow. Sachin Tendulkar, recovering from a viral infection and batting at No. 5, and Suresh Raina held on until lunch. England still had 72 overs to take the remaining six wickets in.
With 378 runs to play with at the start of the day, and with the Indians coming out of a sick bay, England began the day with modern fields: two slips, a gully, and men saving easy boundaries. It will be simplistic to say Strauss feared a defeat, it could have had more to do with all modern captains' tendency to not let the batsmen draw confidence through easy boundaries. In Anderson's first over, Laxman edged between the second slip and gully.
Chris Tremlett was superb from the other end, bowling an awkward in-between length, moving the ball away, and regularly beating the bat. The loose shot eventually came 33 minutes into the day, with Dravid chasing and edging a slightly short, slightly wide Anderson delivery. That ended Dravid's involvement after he had been on the field throughout the match bar 87 minutes, keeping wicket in between, dropping a catch at slip, and scoring a century to avoid the follow-on.
The next partnership was going to be the important one. Laxman and Gambhir have been India's big second-innings men in the recent years, and they both got in to frustrate England. While there was late swing and slightly variable bounce to keep the fast men interested, both of them looked comfortable against Swann. The good deliveries from the quicks, however, kept turning out to be too good, missing the edges.
It was ironic then that the breakthrough came through a loose dismissal. Laxman had been pulling throughout his knock, but when he did the same to Anderson's first delivery back, he found short midwicket. In the next over, Swann made his comeback, with a straighter one, the ball hitting Gambhir's pad a microsecond before it hit the bat. Asad Rauf made the correct call, reiterating what a superb Test it has been for the umpires.
