· Medha Patkar along with 100 slum activists detained by Nirmal Nagar Police-Mumbai
· Thousands of slum dwellers storm the Western Express Highway and demand for release of the activists and halt to the illegal and unjust demolition of their homes at Golibar.
Today morning hundreds of slum activists along with Medha Tai Patkar have been detained by the Nirmal Nagar Police Station while they were protesting the illegal and the unjust demolition of their homes at Golibar. The police under the Senior Police Inspector Sh Bagade marched into Ganesh Krupa Society, Golibar and forcibly started the demolition. To this unjust and illegal act, the activists protested and thus were forcibly taken away by the Police.
As a result thousands of slum dwellers stormed the Western Express Highway from where they were again evicted. More than hundred slum activists along with Medha Patkar have been detained at Nirmal Nagar Police Station and they are not even being allowed to contact anyone.
Kindly call the Nirmal Nagar Police Station (26471306 / 26470931 SPI Bagade 9821600134) for immediate release of the slum activists.
