Calcutta, May 19: A Facebook post by Mamata Banerjee on the eve of the second anniversary of her government drew both bouquets and brickbats. In the post uploaded around 4.30pm today, the chief minister expressed her gratitude towards "Maa, Mati and Manush of Bengal for their massive mandate to usher inPoriborton by ending 34 years of Left misrule and tyranny" and for giving Trinamul "the opportunity to recreate Bengal from hopelessness and despair." Mamata's words did not cut ice with all her followers on the social networking site. "Agey bekar chele meyeder job din then toh ma-mati-manusher joy bolbo.... Oi shob fanka awaj charun j 10 lakh bekar k job diyechen…. (We can hail the ma-mati-manushgovernment only after you give jobs to the unemployed youths. Stop making the hollow claims that you gave 10 lakh jobs)," Chandan Das wrote. Mamata's claims that her government had topped in NREGA expenditure and reduced loss of man days from 78,000 to 5,000 were also questioned. "If the government has no money, why is it spending so much for celebrating its two years in office?" questioned Santanu. However, some of Mamata's followers showered praise. Partha Mukherjee congratulated the chief minister on completing two years. "Congrats Didi, we are with you and carry on," he said. Baban Chatterjee wrote: "Joy hok tomar (May you be victorious)." Swaroop Chatterjee posted: "Didi panchayet kintu amadr chai. Maa mati manusher panchayet. (We want to win the panchayats. A panchayat of ma, maati, manush)." http://www.telegraphindia.com/1130520/jsp/bengal/story_16917474.jsp |
